Warning system: re-raise exceptions in critical parts

Currently, the warning contexts allow correction devices to plow through exceptions (while raising warnings). In many cases, that's reasonable as there's still useful work to do. But if there's no data being processed, might as well stop there - any later exceptions don't make sense. Prime example: "cannot access local variable 'previews' where it is not associated with a value".
